Star Conflict servers shut down Oct. 9, 2026 — a day early

Star Conflict's official servers now close Oct. 9, 2026 at 10:00 GMT, one day ahead of schedule. Forum goes Oct. 8. A self-hosted Community Edition follows on Steam.

Short answer: Yes, and a day sooner than planned. Star Conflict's official servers go offline on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2026, at 10:00 GMT. That is 3:00 AM in Phoenix and on the US West Coast, 6:00 AM Eastern, and 1:00 PM Moscow. The date everyone had circled since April was Oct. 10. The studio moved it up by a day in a post this morning.

If you planned one last sortie on Friday, reschedule it for Wednesday or Thursday morning.

The new schedule

From the official shutdown schedule, posted Oct. 7:

  • Oct. 8, 13:00 GMT: The official forum closes. Forum links will redirect to the game's Steam page.
  • Oct. 9, 10:00 GMT: Official game servers shut down.
  • After that: The Community Edition arrives on Steam, and the official site gets instructions for running it.

The Star Conflict wiki stays up. The official Discord stays up too, though older channels may get archived.

Why the early exit? The studio says it wants to get the Community Edition into players' hands "as soon as possible and to promptly fix any bugs or issues." It is rare for a shutdown to arrive early because something comes after it.

How we got here

The original announcement went up April 16. It cited "technical limitations, rising infrastructure costs, and a decline in the active player base." New account registration closed May 14 and monetization ended June 1. The summer after that ran free events where every paid item could be earned.

Star Conflict is developed by Star Gem Inc. and published by Gaijin, the War Thunder people. It arrived on Steam on Feb. 27, 2013, and the studio describes it as "more than ten years of operation." When we checked the Steam API at 5:26 AM MST today, it reported 24 concurrent players. That is one snapshot taken at a quiet hour, but it doesn't contradict the studio's explanation.

What is the Star Conflict Community Edition?

It is a special build of the game that ships with its own server. The Community Edition overview promises the full package: every game mode, matchmaking, chat, corporations, achievements, tournaments, and the economy. You can launch a local server from a button on the login screen, or connect to someone else's by typing in an address, port, username, and password.

Will my progress carry over? No. Each server keeps its own account database, so your official account stays behind on the official servers. The trade-off is that a server owner can unlock every ship, module, and cosmetic. A decade of grinding becomes a config setting.

When does it release? The studio says "immediately after the official servers are shut down," with detailed setup guides arriving at the same time. No exact hour has been given.

Is anything new coming? Yes. Star Conflict: Burrownauts is a roguelite mining-and-defense spinoff set in the same universe, planned for early 2027 according to the Sept. 14 post.

Bottom line

Is Star Conflict dead? The official service ends Oct. 9, 2026, at 10:00 GMT. The game itself keeps going on private servers once the Community Edition goes live, assuming enough people want to host one. Our 2026 shutdowns ledger had it filed under Oct. 10. We are correcting that now, and the studio beat us to it.

It's a short goodbye with a sequel planned.
